Basalt volume density is 2.8-3.3g/cm3,compression strength is very big,can reach as high as 300MPa,and even more higher sometimes. Basalt have big durability,and fragile. Basalt main ingredient is silica,Al2O3,Fe2O3,CaO,MgO(and a small amount of K2O,Na2O),mostly is SiO2,percentage is about 45-50%. Commonly the color of basalt is black,blown or dark green. Because of its dense texture,basalt is heavier than granite,limestone,sandstone and shale.
